The Mahoning County Chapter No 50
of The Ohio Genealogical Society

Mission Statement

The Mahoning County Chapter of The Ohio Genealogical Society was founded in 1972 on the principles and guidelines of The Ohio Genealogical Society. It is our mission to help and to educate those who are searching out their family histories, especially those with family roots here in Mahoning County.

To fulfill this mission, we hold educational seminars and informative monthly
meetings. We also provide volunteers at both the Mahoning County Courthouse and The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County - main branch.

We are also committed to the publication of books containing genealogical material
from both public and private areas. Also to assist government and private entities to protect and preserve old and deteriorating records.

Our presence is but a reflection of those who have come before us. To learn who they are, where they came from and what they accomplished, will help us understand who we are. To this end is why we as a Society exist.
